My Experience at Shakespeare's Park
As I followed my peers into Shakespeare's Park, my mouth dropped in astonishment of the incredible beauty I saw. The scenery I had only merely glanced at while driving into the park stole my heart upon first glance, and I was more excited than ever to get out of my car and walk around. I knew from reading some of Shakespeare's plays that he payed attention to the beauty of nature, and this incredible park made Shakespeare's concept of nature come to life.
I felt as if I could walk around this place for an entire day! I was completely speechless about everything I was taking in. It was amazing to me that Montgomery, Alabama held a beautiful, creative park that took plants and architecture from Shakespeare's plays and placed them all around the park. After only a few minutes of walking around, I told myself that Shakespeare's park was "my new getaway." It was one of those places that instantly gave me the feeling of peace and knowledge.
Peace and knowledge: two things that nature was once recognized for. Today those concepts have faded from our thoughts of nature. Instead of peace and knowledge, we see nature as something we can dominate without ethical thought. We chop down forests for homes and buildings, and continually destroy our air through pollution without even considering the effects. Viewing Shakespeare's Park made me think twice about how nature is treated and thought of today. Instead of our carelessness and thoughts of dominion towards an important aspect of our world, we should attempt to preserve and duplicate its beauty.
By forcing our way into nature's secrets and knowledge, we can become divine.
